Dust Control
Where Dust Control Can Be Used
Unpaved roads & driveways
Parking lots
Construction sites
Truck & ag processing terminals
Large machine sheds
Horse arenas (safe when applied correctly)
Unpaved roads, driveways, and lots don’t have to mean dust clouds and washboard surfaces.
At Bunkers Feed & Supply, we offer road dust control services using high-purity magnesium chloride. This compound is a proven dust suppressant and soil stabilizer. It attracts moisture from the air, binds dust and aggregate together, and keeps surfaces firm and dust-free longer than traditional treatments.
Magnesium chloride is also one of the safest dust control products available. Independent USDA studies have shown it to be less harmful to vegetation and groundwater compared to common alternatives.

How and When Dust Control is Applied
Bunkers has a truck dedicated exclusively to Road Dust Control (RDC). We apply at the manufacturer’s recommended rate to ensure full coverage and long-lasting results.
First application: May or June
Second application: August or September
High-traffic areas: May require additional applications (e.g., road construction detours, processing terminals).
Applications are tailored to your site and always handled by trained Bunkers applicators.
The Flagging Process
Flagging is required for every dust control site. Flags mark the exact area where product should be applied and let the county know where not to blade. Without flags in place, counties may grade the road and remove the treated surface.
Here’s what to expect:
Sign-Up – When you order dust control, we’ll provide flags and place them along the section of road you want treated.
County Permits – Some counties require additional permits. Bunkers can help guide you through this process.
Maintaining Flags – Flags must remain in place from April 1 through October 15 each year. Customers are responsible for keeping them visible and upright.
Why It Matters – Flags ensure the county knows where to blade and allow our applicators to clearly see the area to treat. Missing or moved flags may result in your section not being sprayed.
Keeping your flags in place all season is the most important step you can take to make sure dust control works as intended.
